My Journey

I am no stranger to the journey of finding meaning and learning to cope amidst heartbreak and struggle, both personally and professionally. And, the longer I live, the more confidently I can say, “No one is without their own story of pain or struggle.” I am thankful I can say that I am a better and stronger person for my own struggles, but I did not always feel that way.

Prior to being a counselor, I spent many years as an ICU Nurse caring for children and families in some of the greatest crises of their lives. I witnessed individuals overwhelmed by life and death circumstances, stay committed and battle to overcome obstacles they never thought possible, while others learned to accept and cope with things outside their control. I was blessed by the privilege to observe and support these individuals in their journey, and to see the power of the human spirit.

As a counselor, the battles and pain I witness are di erent, for some they are more internal, while others may seem external, circumstances or relationships. Each story is different and again I have the wonderful opportunity to sit with individuals, encouraging and challenging, and being witness as they overcome their internal struggles and pain and, ultimately find meaning and purpose in their pain.

The Bible tells us, “in this life there will be struggle, but that there is also hope” (John 16:33). Heartache and struggle have been a continual part of my life, at least witness to it, but with the same confidence that I believe no one is exempt from pain, I also believe there are greater things for each one of us on the other side of whatever pain and struggle you have experienced.
