Emotional support can come from many different places; family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, church, etc.
But sometimes it may feel that you need more than is available or maybe you need something different.
Counseling can provide the extra support you're looking for.
Although sharing your struggle with someone new may seem uncomfortable or intimidating, sharing your personal experience can help reveal pent up emotions and give you a clear mind as you process and articulate your thoughts.
Counseling or therapy involves a process, but how long that process takes is up to you and your goals. I always allow extra time the first time we meet. Each session is about you, but the first session is a vital part of the process and important for building a working relationship with you. We do not want you to feel rushed.
My goal is to listen and better understand you, what you are experiencing, and what your needs and desires are for therapy. I also want you to have the opportunity get to know me and ask questions.
After the initial session, sessions are typically weekly or biweekly depending on what your goals are.
